Heritage-listed terrace in Clovelly
Whittle Waxes was proud to play a part in this stunning renovation by Build by Design of a truly unique heritage-listed terrace in Clovelly. Our Evolution Hardwax Oil was used throughout—on all the beautiful timber panelling, floors, and custom furniture—helping to create warm, modern living spaces that still honour the home’s historic character.
A beautiful blend of craftsmanship, heritage, and contemporary design

Rammed Earth Floor
We love seeing the many ways our Evolution Hardwax Oil gets used — even on a stunning rammed earth floor like this one. This client had been struggling with a sticky, hard-to-clean surface until they gave our Hardwax Oil a try. The result? A beautiful finish and a floor that’s now easy to live with. This just proves once again how incredibly versatile this product is — it works wonders not just on timber, but also on concrete, rammed earth and more.

Stairway to Heaven
We were thrilled to be asked to work on a prestigious high-end property in Landsborough, where only the best would do. One of the standout features was the staircase, which needed to perfectly match the Rosewood door frames and ceiling timber. To achieve this, we started by water-popping the treads to deepen the stain. We then applied Treatex Dark Oak Stain, followed by Anti-Slip protection, and finished with Evolution Hardwax Oil Matt to provide a durable, long-lasting finish. The result? A beautifully rich and protected staircase that ties seamlessly into the home’s elegant design.

A Perfect Blend with Raw Stain Light
In this prestigious Landsborough property, we were also asked to ensure the Blackbutt timber island bench seamlessly blended with the creamy-coloured cabinetry. Applying hardwax oil directly would have given the timber an orangy-gold tone, so we first applied Raw Stain Light to lock in the natural colour of the wood. We then finished it with Evolution Hardwax Oil for a beautifully subtle, creamy finish with the protection this high-traffic surface needs.

Mapleton Magic
We were recently asked to apply a finish to this incredible Parquet de Versailles oak floor in Mapleton—and the results speak for themselves. To preserve the texture and bring out the best in the timber, we began by sanding with a 120-grit under a polishing machine, avoiding over-sanding so the pigment would hold and the character of the wood remained. Next, we applied a coat of our Treatex Colourtone – Dark Oak, followed by a layer of Evolution Hardwax Oil Matte once the stain had dried. After a light sand and vacuum, we sealed the floor with a second coat of hardwax oil. The result? A floor that looks absolutely stunning and is beautifully protected for years to come.

Staining timber to look like leather
We recently had the pleasure of working with Gary from the Blackall Range Woodcrafters on a truly unique project—a timber waistcoat designed to look like leather. After testing a few different stains, Giles demonstrated how sanding the surface, particularly with an orbital sander, intensified the black tone. Treatex Ebony was chosen as the ideal stain, and Giles re-sanded the entire waistcoat before applying it with a roller. After the session, Gary applied a second coat of Ebony to deepen the colour, sealed it with Evolution Hardwax Oil, and gave it a final polish using black shoe polish. The result? A stunning, leather-look timber waistcoat—an incredible example of creativity and craftsmanship.
